The “Liberate Therapy” Symbol: Explained

Liberate-Icon-Blue.png

This image represents Liberate Therapy. The symbol may have many meanings, depending on how you look at it. From one point of view, it consists of an “upside down triangle” & “half circle.”

The “upside down triangle” evokes rebellion, dissidence, freedom, individuality. Once used to identify prisoners in concentration camps during WWII, we can reclaim the symbol as our own & define its meaning in whichever way feels natural. This sense of reconstructing meaning must be part of the self-liberation process, to not let others define who we are or what/how we perceive. Only we can do this for ourselves.

Then, at first glance, we may notice a “half circle.” Though, I see something more whole: a visible half & invisible half. This may represent the conscious mind / unconscious mind, part of the story / the whole story, the known / unknown.

The two symbols, together, embody a liberatory perspective on life, one that views it as a fluid journey rather than a fixed course. We may have learned to view life one way: with ups & downs, halves & wholes, ends & beginnings. But, if we choose to look closer, to challenge preconceived beliefs/ideas/definitions/concepts/shapes, we create room for something new, something liberating.
